About The American Camellia Society

The American Camellia Society is a national membership organization dedicated to fostering appreciation for and knowledge of plants of the genus Camellia. Founded in 1945, the Society is headquartered at Massee Lane Gardens near Fort Valley in central Georgia. Massee Lane Gardens has nine acres of camellia plantings and an additional twenty-plus acres devoted to specialty gardens and collections. Massee Lane Gardens is an International Garden of Excellence. The American Camellia Society is a member of the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta and of The International Camellia Society. The Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.The American Camellia Society:
  • sponsors a variety of educational activities
  • offers various publications
  • helps sponsor scientific research
  • sanctions camellia flower shows and accredits camellia show judges

Professionally Guided Tours for groups of ten or more by advance appointment on weekdays - $10 per guest (no discount)
Guided tours with a box lunch - $25

Directions

  • Traveling South on I-75, take exit 149 at Byron; follow GA-49 through Fort Valley to Massee Lane Gardens on left, 5.5 miles south of Fort Valley.

  • Traveling North on I-75 exit 135 at Perry; take GA-127 to Marshallville; turn right onto GA-49 to Massee Lane Gardens, 2 miles on right.

  • Traveling East from Columbus, take the US-80/GA-22 exit toward Phenix City/Macon; turn right onto GA-22 E/US-80 E/Beaver Run Rd; continue to follow GA-22 E/US-80 E; continue straight onto GA-96 E; turn right to stay on GA-96 E/Orange St/Vineville St; continue straight onto Oakland Heights Pkwy; turn right onto GA-49/N Camellia Blvd and follow GA-49 through Fort Valley 5.5 miles to Massee Lane Gardens on left.
