A hybrid that first bloomed in 1962, whose parents are: (Female) 'Butterfly Wings' ('Houye Diechi') x (Male) 'Indian Summer'. It was originated and propagated by Howard Asper, Escondido, CA. The year of commercial introduction is 1969. It was registered with the American Camellia Society in 1970. Chinese synonym: 'Taojin', later changed to 'Taojinzhe'.
Bloom: The red peony form medium to large bloom averages 5 - 6 inches in size.
Plant: Plant growth is upright, dense, and rapid in rate.
Bloom Season: early to midseason
